Now today's recipe is a simple one and easy for beginners too. I had Baingan or big eggplant variety lying in my refrigerator for a week. Everytime I was postponing to cook with it. I wanted to try something totally new. I saw this recipe on Youtube and compared many recipes to finalise my dish and it came out pretty well. It's a yogurt based curry but also spicy, based on how spicy you want to make it. It is a great option when you run out of onion and tomato at home. I added a potato to make it appealing for my husband, you can also try that to make kids eat it. It goes well with Roti, chapati, pulao and even rice too. I did not click any good pics before we finished it off today. So here is a short snippet from my instagram story of the dish. Lets move on the actual recipe.
It's been ages since I've posted any recipe on my blog. Not because I stopped trying new recipes, (that's partly true since i keep my cooking to basic and simple dishes nowadays) but because I need to get back to blogging after a big break. I do share my recipes and everyday cooking on my Instagram page. I've decided to post more this month, let's see how I fare at it.

Some dishes tend to stay in your mind even if you have not had it often. May be you haven't even heard of them and suddenly you become a fan of it. Yes, thepla is one of the dishes which stays as a sweet memory bringing back my days in US. We used to buy Frozen theplas, reheat them and have everyday with some hot masala tea/ chai in the morning.
We started the WTC (What to cook) group and again I was reminded to try making theplas at home. This is a group where we inspire each other to cook everyday and help out with deciding the menu. Recipe shares too is obvious. Thepla is a flat bread or paratha types, originally from Gujarati cuisine. This Methina or Methi theplas made out of fresh fenugreek leaves. You must make it or taste it to understand why I crave for these flavoursome rotis. You actually don't need any side dish to have it. It is a wholesome food by itself and nutritious too.
This is one of my most drooled over food pic on social network. (Don't forget to follow me in FB, Instagram and Pinterest, etc. - Links on the right hand corner)
My bro had come home last weekend and i had to make prawns for lunch, because that's his favorite. I was in a big dilemma whether to make prawns biriyani or masala curry. Both are equally tasty and i too just love prawns aka shrimps. I sometimes wonder why few people are so allegic to prawns. They cannot even touch them, else they would have to be admitted in a hospital. Pity them :( Without any more stories, lets jump right to the Prawn Masala Recipe. You can do a little bit of changes to make it into a semi-gravy or gravy at the end.
There is no looking back, once you make this recipe right.
If you have been trying different recipes for a rich and creamy paneer gravy, then your search is finally over. This one is super simple and quick enough to impress your loved ones with its richness and taste. I went ahead and added whatever veggies I had to make it a mix veg korma, but you can choose to add your favorites or use only the Paneer.
Lets move right to the recipe... No more Rambling! Pudina Chicken Gravy - Juicy and tasty chicken in mint curry, goes well with rice and roti3/14/2015
I don't think I need to describe this gravy, the picture says it all. I wanted to make a green chicken curry which goes well with roti/chapathi and rice too. I had Spinach/Palak, Methi/Fenugreek leaves, Coriander and Mint/Pudina leaves in stock. I was just choosing randomly the greens to use in the curry for the day. Somehow the mint bunch was so attractive, that I decided to go with it. It definitely was a good choice and yummiest gravy I have made. So here goes the recipe:
Hi guys, I know I've been posting a lot of photos on facebook and instagram but no recipes yet. My bad.. I'm not finding time to sit and write the recipes. There is no technology which will do this for me ;( So here I'm writing one by one from my archive of food photographs. And you must be wondering how many panner tikka recipe have I posted... but trust me this the best of all! I made this for a family get together at my home and everybody liked it!! It was over in no time, and I had to grill another set of skewers quickly to serve them. Both kids and adults liked it, and got a compliment that it tastes better than hotels. So I'm sure you can try this recipe to surprise your loved ones at home.
Winters have started in Bangalore. The early mornings and nights are much colder, that you crave for some comfort food - something hot, creamy and soothing to your shivering soul. :)
These days we have started making a lot of soups at home... I know my cream of pumpkin soup recipe is still pending to be uploaded. I assure that I will post it this week. Once you know the recipe, every other cream soup is same. But today's soup is different... it's a mild spiced coconut based soup. What can be more comforting than a cup of hot coconut milk with some spices?? This is very common Thai Soup Recipe and it's quite easy to do. I added my recent found new green vegetable - Bok Choy. But you can feel free to toss in any veggies you have in your refrigerator. We all love cheesy creamy pasta outside, but can we do something nice at home? I had tried many times to create a good pasta at home and a much healthier version. I think this time I almost got a good red pasta version and a very healthy option too. Normal pastas are made out of refined flour - no fibre at all. I searched for Wheat pastas in the super market and finally bolted down on the Durum wheat pastas from Disano. It says "from the golden fields of Italy and it just takes 8 minutes to prepare, with a low glycemic index, low cholestrol and high levels of fiber." I had to try this one.
Some people may call this recipe as Arabiata pasta, but I'm really not sure of it's name :) After having these pizzas at home, I don't crave for the cheese burst Domino or Pizza Hut pizzas. After we started working out, we are very conscious in choosing what we eat. We started avoiding too much of fried foodsoutside, my hubby's favorite manchurians too. We look for grilled, pan fried options and salads.
Ok, back to the pizza... I did not try my hands on making the pizza base at home. I'm sure it would take a long time. I just use store bought pizza base - tried both white and wheat base. And this takes only 10 mins. Who doesn't love curd? Except me who doesn't like it much on the chats, especially the dahi puri. But I really love this one. This can be whipped up in 2 minutes and can be called as yogurt spaghetti pasta or thayir semiya. ;) Ingredients: Semiya/ vermicelli - 1 1/2 cups Thick Curd - 1 cup Milk - 2 tbsp Mustard - 1 tsp Broken urad dal - 1 tsp Cashews - 6 Curry leaves Finely chopped onions - 1/4 cup (optional) Finely chopped green chillies - 2 Chopped Coriander leaves Oil Salt |
