I wanted to try something totally new. I saw this recipe on Youtube and compared many recipes to finalise my dish and it came out pretty well. It's a yogurt based curry but also spicy, based on how spicy you want to make it. It is a great option when you run out of onion and tomato at home. I added a potato to make it appealing for my husband, you can also try that to make kids eat it. It goes well with Roti, chapati, pulao and even rice too. Hi people, I know I've been lazy updating my recipes on my blog out here for a while :/ But I'm really active on multiple other platforms. Easy to make with available ingredients and i have made it quite healthy here ;) Cheese is protein guys, as long as you don't gulp more than 20-25g (1 cube) a day. Is this picture enough to get you believe that a shortcut method to cook actually works! After we started the WTC group, we talk about so many cooking shortcuts and recipes on a daily basis. This technique was totally new to me and had never heard of it! It's called OPOS - One pot one shot technique.
It's a technique where there will be a max of two steps and one cooker used to make the dish. No standing near the stove spending your life sautéing vegetables! So I decided to give OPOS a shot and chose a gravy as a safer option to try first time. And I must say I became a curious fan of the technique and how it works! Some dishes tend to stay in your mind even if you have not had it often. May be you haven't even heard of them and suddenly you become a fan of it. Yes, thepla is one of the dishes which stays as a sweet memory bringing back my days in US. We used to buy Frozen theplas, reheat them and have everyday with some hot masala tea/ chai in the morning.
We started the WTC (What to cook) group and again I was reminded to try making theplas at home. This is a group where we inspire each other to cook everyday and help out with deciding the menu. Recipe shares too is obvious. Thepla is a flat bread or paratha types, originally from Gujarati cuisine. This Methina or Methi theplas made out of fresh fenugreek leaves. You must make it or taste it to understand why I crave for these flavoursome rotis. You actually don't need any side dish to have it. It is a wholesome food by itself and nutritious too.

My bro had come home last weekend and i had to make prawns for lunch, because that's his favorite. I was in a big dilemma whether to make prawns biriyani or masala curry. Both are equally tasty and i too just love prawns aka shrimps. I sometimes wonder why few people are so allegic to prawns. They cannot even touch them, else they would have to be admitted in a hospital. Pity them :( Without any more stories, lets jump right to the Prawn Masala Recipe. You can do a little bit of changes to make it into a semi-gravy or gravy at the end.

We love to try different non-vegetarian recipes and cuisines, but in the end we have to admit that we always come back to the old fashioned classic fish fry. The recipe is so simple yet so succulent, crispy and tasty everytime you have it either cooked by your mom or grandmom. This one is so easy that you cant go wrong! But use fresh fish, the taste of a good fish is the key to this recipe. i have used the Pink perch or shankara fish as known in Tamil Nadu. I love this fish in particular. it has a lot of thorns, but amazingly tasty. Has the nativity in taste unlike the seer fish which has no thorns and somewhat tastes bland for me. My hubby likes to eat only fishes which doesnt have thorns, but I made him have this and he ll never regret :) As I always say, "No pain No gain".
Pudina Chicken Gravy - Juicy and tasty chicken in mint curry, goes well with rice and roti3/14/2015
I don't think I need to describe this gravy, the picture says it all. I wanted to make a green chicken curry which goes well with roti/chapathi and rice too. I had Spinach/Palak, Methi/Fenugreek leaves, Coriander and Mint/Pudina leaves in stock. I was just choosing randomly the greens to use in the curry for the day. Somehow the mint bunch was so attractive, that I decided to go with it. It definitely was a good choice and yummiest gravy I have made. So here goes the recipe:
If someone asks me which meal of the day do you like? It would be the evening snack time for sure, for both of us. We always look out for snack recipes than the main dish. Sandy just loves crunchy snack or chat items to munch on. This time I thought of making something with Paneer/ Cottage Cheese. Not the regular gravies for roti, but a crunchy snack. I know it's been long since I posted a recipe on my site. Now to my favorite recipe of Cream of Pumpkin soup, this is a sure hit among my guests, kids and sandy. It's the best comfort food for this winter and quite easy to make once you know the trick. I have tried this recipe with and without white sauce as detailed below. Depends on how much time you have to make this and if you are worried about the calories :) So hold on and try any of these versions. But if you are making it for the kids, do try with white sauce. They love it!! This is a basic cream soup recipe which you can modify for any vegetable. |
