Now I'm not going to elaborately explain the recipe, why because it might still not be clear to you. So rather, I'm going to post the video of the recipe which I followed here. It's my tried and tested recipe, so you can rely on this one. Recipe reference: Thanks to Joy of Baking
This recipe uses Chocolate Genoise Cake for the base sponge cake. It's so light and airy, and absorbs the cherry syrup well. That's why you need 4 eggs to make this cake. It also uses Kirsch or Cherry Brandy, but as you know I didn't have access to such alcohol here. So I just bought the preserved cherries in the super market, which were already soaked in sugar syrup. But I needed more cherry syrup to soak the layers of the cake. So, I made a simple sugar syrup, added the cherries and brought it to boil for 10 minutes. This was sufficient for me. Save some cherries to decorate the cake too.
Rest I followed the same procedure as shown in the video. Used fresh cream to beat into whipped cream. And I'm yet to buy piping bag and nozzles, so made a simple piping cone out of parchment/butter paper. That's sufficient to decorate this cake, no big investments on cake decoration tools. I have posted the video of how to make a piping bag below. Loved doing the chocolate shavings too :)
