How to make Methi thepla / Methina thepla (Fenugreek leaves flat bread)

Some dishes tend to stay in your mind even if you have not had it often. May be you haven't even heard of them and suddenly you become a fan of it. Yes, thepla is one of the dishes which stays as a sweet memory bringing back my days in US. We used to buy Frozen theplas, reheat them and have everyday with some hot masala tea/ chai in the morning.
We started the WTC (What to cook) group and again I was reminded to try making theplas at home. This is a group where we inspire each other to cook everyday and help out with deciding the menu. Recipe shares too is obvious.
Thepla is a flat bread or paratha types, originally from Gujarati cuisine. This Methina or Methi theplas made out of fresh fenugreek leaves. You must make it or taste it to understand why I crave for these flavoursome rotis. You actually don't need any side dish to have it. It is a wholesome food by itself and nutritious too.

Mooli Paratha/ Raddish Stuffed Parata
I remember whenever we head for North India trips... we go in search of local dhabas and have the stuffed parathas roadside. They are yummy apart from the fact that they are almost deep fried in oil while cooking.
Nevertheless we simply love stuffed parathas made at home too with less oil/ghee. They are absolutely yummy with or without any side dish. Its quite easy to make too. I love aalu paratha and have tried it many times. This time I wanted to try something healthy and so picked up raddish and gobi. I know how your face turns when you hear raddish. It's smelly only when you grate it, once you cook it as i say.. there is absolutely no smell of raddish. People would never find what was the stuffing inside.

Akki Rotti - Karnataka Special
After coming to Bangalore, I got familiar with a lot of Karnataka special dishes like Akki rotti, chiroti, jowar roti, kara bath, chow chow bath, vangi bath.... etc. But I never dared to try the Karnataka staple food - Ragi Mudhe, nothing but big Ragi balls eaten with sambar here. Out of these Akki rotti is my hubby's favorite and he also likes to try his hand in making them at home with me :) Akki rotti is an Indian style rice flour pancake.. you can either make it plain or add grated vegetables to make it more crunchy and healthier.

Butter Naan with garlic and cilantro served with Butter Chicken
My hubby loves roti and naan so much that he orders them by default in any restaurant we go!!
But I've never tried making them at home, I meant the traditional tandoori way! I would rather make way with chapathis and phulkas everytime. We don't have a microwave at home yet, may be that's also a reason for not trying. :) I decided to give it a try, after remembering my mom making naan with a pan - she took all pains to do new stuffs for us without much gadgets those days!! Cakes, Spring rolls, naan, pizza, and much more without a oven... so let's give it a try the same way.
Most of the Naan recipes online are made using yeast, but i did not have them in stock. So tried my own version with baking powder.
