I just came back from an awesome trip to Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi) and thought today I will write about, what are the really must try food in Vietnam. So here we go:

1. Banh Mi:
Description: It is a sandwich filled with fresh salads like cucumber, carrots etc along with a meat which is usually pork or chicken or beef.
Price: Approx. 20,000 Vietnamese dong which is equivalent to $0.8
Where to Buy?: Every 2nd or 3rd shop sells Banh Mi and most of it is very tasty!!!!!
When to Eat: Anytime during the day

Description: Pho which is actually not 'FO', but pronounced as "FA" or PHA. It is a yummy noodle soup with lots of greens like spring onions, lettuce, cabbage with a lot of meat usually pork or chicken

Where to Buy?: Pho is a very special breakfast dish, so usually you will find the Vietnamese having breakfast in small joints across the streets.
When to Eat: Usually had for breakfast

Description: It is a dry beef/pork/chicken salad with fresh papaya, peanuts, roasted meat and some greens. Its a fresh salad.
Price: Approx. 35,000 Vietnamese dong which is equivalent to $1.55
Where to Buy?: You will find the best one in a shop called "Long Vi Dung" - "Nom Thit Bo Kho" in Hanoi. Dont miss it.
When to Eat: Usually had as an appetizer before the actual dinner
Description: It is a dry beef/pork/chicken salad with fresh papaya, peanuts, roasted meat and some greens. Its a fresh salad.

Price: Approx. 20,000 Vietnamese dong which is equivalent to $0.8. You get a single piece as well. So do try them
Where to Buy?: There is no specific restaurant to try spring rolls. Everyone makes them yummy :)
When to Eat: Usually had as a snack in the evening

Description: Coffees are my absolute favourite in Vietnam. It is so tasty and the after effects are just out of the world. There are various kinds of coffees in Vietnam but the most famous ones are the Egg Coffee (Yes, you read it correct. It is egg mixed with coffee and it tastes yummy) and the condensed milk coffee which is made using a Phin filter (Pic above).
Price: Approx. 20,000 to 40, 000 Vietnamese dong which is equivalent to $0.8 to $1.6
Where to Buy?: Cong Caphe is my favourite, but you get good coffees in a number of coffee shops like Highland Coffee, Trung Nguyen etc
When to Eat: For breakfast, after lunch, evening or after dinner (Especially the egg coffee is to be had after dinner)
