Weight Loss and Detox Drink Recipes

Weight Loss Drink
I recently thought I need to shed 3-4 kgs of weight, to reduce my love handles and to tone my body a bit. I know excercising/ yoga is a better option to stay fit, but i tend to complain a lot about getting time. Morning - maid comes early, have to cook breakfast & in the evening - we reach home late and have to cook dinner :(. And I can't diet!! I can't reduce white food intake like sugar/rice/maida!! Really painful isn't it!! I love sweets and desserts, no matter what :)  So I started looking for some of the weight loss drinks which works in the long run!!

You might be thinking how a drink can make you lose weight. Yes, these drinks are detoxifiers. Detoxifiers are the ones which removes the unwanted toxins from your body, cleanses your system and thus increases your metabolism rate. So the fat deposition in your body parts is prevented. Thus increasing your metabolism rate helps your food to be digested faster and fats are broken down easily. But these drinks may take a while to show some change in your body. You need to follow them for atleast 2-3 months to see a noticeable change.

So let's see what are the best weight loss drinks that work effectively:

1. Cinnamon Honey Drink
This drink is the first of all the others, and the most claimed to work effectively. Some of the well known people that I follow in the blogging network have said that they have lost 3-4 kgs in a month!!! I think that's really awesome. Atleast there is no harm in trying this organic drink, when you are ready to spend a big bomb by hitting the gym or aerobics or yoga. This is pretty simple to make and all you need is cinnamon and honey at home (1:2 cinnamon honey ratio). Drink twice a day. I'm gonna start this from today... fingers crossed :)

2. Lemon Honey Drink
This one is the most popular one. All of us have heard about it in someway or the other.

1 tbsp Honey and 2 tsp lemon juice dissolved in warm (but not hot) water is believed to mobilize the body’s stored fat, using the fat to provide energy for daily activities. This can result in a gradual decrease in excess weight, which is the healthy way to lose excess fat.

You can skip the lemon if you are allergic to citrus fruits. Honey alone also works but slower.

Taken once a day, in the morning on an empty stomach is a great start to the
day when you’re trying to reduce. It can also be taken after a large, fatty meal
as a tonic to promote good digestion.

3. Green tea
We all know about the humty number of benefits we get by drinking green tea everyday. But still, we dont!! But let me remind you again... Green tea is full of antioxidants, helps in increasing our metabolism rate and flushing out the toxins.

Studies show you can burn 35-to-43% more fat during the day when you drink
3-to-5 cups of green tea. Atleast we can drink two times instead of our cuppa /coffee, becos green tea does not add any calories to our body.

4. Ginger Tea
This one is actually an improvisation of the lomon honey tea. While writing this, I remember reading in a book about the scientific reasons behind our traditions. It said that Turmeric and Ginger are to be used in someway or the other in our everyday food, because of their medicinal value.

Ginger roots have a rare substance called gingerol which stimulates blood circulation, increases metabolism and excretes the toxin from the body. It also helps to digest junk and fatty food, regulates the cholesterol and fat metabolic process  and thus removes toxins from the body. Due to this as well as other reasons, consumption of ginger everyday results in extra fat loss.

Add 1 tbsp of freshly grated ginger in a cup of boiling water. Let it steep in for 5-10 minutes. Then add a tsp of lemon juice and honey (but optional) and gulp it :) You can also add 1/4 tsp dry ginger powder instead of grated ginger.

5. Low fat Yogurt
You can either have flavored yogurts for breakfast or mid-day breaks, or make a yogurt smoothie of your favorite fruits. Not only will the thickness of the smoothie kill your appetite but Yogurt is loaded with calcium just like milk.

Researchers at the University of Tennessee found out that you can lose 61% more fat and 81% more belly fat when adding yogurt to your diet because the calcium in yogurt helps you burn fat and it also limits the amount of fat your body can make but try to use the healthier Greek Yogurt in your smoothies along with adding some fruit to boost your yogurt smoothies weight loss power!

6. Coconut Water
Coconut Water contains more electrolytes than most fruit  juices and energy drinks without the extra sugar & artificial flavorings.

Coconut water naturally speeds up your metabolism and gives you more energy. Coconut water or tender coconut was the best drink ever for Chennai's hot summers!! It cools our body and gives us the required energy too... GLUCOSE like :)

7. Vegetable Juices
I know how your face goes when you hear about veggie juice!!
Vegetable juice provides all the nutritional benefits of fruit juice but with less calories.  As vegetables are generally lower in sugar content than fruit, their juices are also much lower in sugar. A cup of natural vegetable juice provides only 50 calories, whilst the equivalent in fresh orange juice provides 129, over twice as many calories. 

Some of the weight loss juices are: Carrots, Beetroot, Cranberry, Pear, Grape, Orange, Mango, Blueberry and Pomegranate. I know there are a lot of fruits instead of the veggies. Ultimately its only carrot and beet from the veggies.

Do not strain the pulp away, because the pulp in the juice keep syou fuller for a longer time. Avoid packaged fruit or veg juices, since you dont know what goes inside them. It's the belief in what you see rather than actually what you drink. So make your own juice and you'll lose weight sooner :)
